The Ocean

When

I have the need for space,

I go and watch the sunset as it sparkles off the ocean.

When I sense something's out of place, the sound of surf along the strand calms the commotion.

When I feel caught up in the race, if the riptide sets me free, then why do I still grapple for the shore?

The air I breathe helps set the pace.

The life beneath inside my dreams conspires to let my worries go out on the surface of the ocean.

A dream I hold back by command disguises I'm not in emotion.

Inside the sweat upon my hand.

To sleep, to dream, to start, to see.

Dreaming deeply not to think.

Let out your breath. Don't take a stand.

Release control.

Release command.

I let my inhibitions go.

Then swim towards freedom with the current

Release illusion of control.

Cradled by the waves, mysterious love potion.

I don't mind the undertow.

If underneath I find compassion by my side.

Like a steady even flow.

The pain eludes you if you're in it for the ride.

Out on the surface of the ocean.

I dream I hold back my commitment.

Disguised inside an old emotion.

Inside the sweat upon my hands.

To sleep, to dream, to stir, to sing.

Dreaming deep midnight serenade.

Let out your breath.

Go take a stand. Release control.
